I have without exaggeration looked at over 2000-3000 corvettes online. I have come to the conclusion that you might as well just go to Matt Fagenbaum at Van Bortel. I just bought my second one their a Beautiful 2016. Matt is so easy and fair to deal with, I am a salesman myself and I know a good one when I see a Great one. I have dealt with the Van Bortel new car dealership when we purchased our new (at the time) 2014 Camaro SS (traded 2001 pewter Corvette conv) which went very well. Being from Binghamton ,NY we did most of the deal over the phone and we just knew they were good people when the deal was complete. With our past experience with Van Bortel we just purchased a 2019 Corvette Grand Sport Coupe 2LT. Having traded the Camaro in, and it was the end of November 2018, Matt trailered our new Corvette to our home and picked up our Camaro trade. Now we just have to wait till spring to drive our new Corvette with 4 miles on it sitting in the garage. The VB Corvette Department is excellent to deal with, Matt Fagenbaum was personable and very responsive to our needs. We would definitely recommend Van Bortel to anyone!
Comfortable and not pressured
We weren’t actively looking but wanted to see a color a friend had described. However, we saw a color we liked and soon Matt Fagenbaum came to greet us and offer us a test drive while he ran the numbers on a deal. When we returned, impressed, he told us what he could do and we were more impressed, so much more that we made the deal. He was very good to work with and, when we picked up the car, very good about going over all the paperwork and also all the features on the car. He was professional, courteous, low-keyed enough to make us feel comfortable and not pressured and a good man to deal with.

Process so easy
We did most of the conversation via the Corvette Forum. Matt had a great price but it was simply out of my reach. I countered an offer. Instead of saying no or making another counter offer, he showed me how I can get that deal! The rest was history. That’s what separated Matt from other salesmen. Our conversation started with me being interested in a used Z51 they had in stock. Then I went from buying that to buying a new GS! I traded two my cars. I drove 7 hours with car one the first week; then drove home in a rental. I drove back with my other car following week. The final paperwork process took literally 20 minutes. What was surprising is that Matt didn’t charge me any of those dealer fees. I almost bought it from another dealer last month who added $900 in extra fees!!! At Van Bortel, I literally paid temp tag fee and another mandatory NY state fee – that’s it. When comparing to other dealers that charges many fees, this was an advantage. I have to say HUGE thanks to Matt for making the process so easy!

We just purchased our first new Corvette, after having bought ‘pre-enjoyed’ twice in the past. First time dealing for new with Matt, and it was a good experience. We have moved up a little with each trade, and now with a Grand Sport we have the car we wanted. We know the car will be great, and from past experience we know any service we need will be great too. Not the typical experience
I met the some of the team at Carlise over the summer and I never knew until then how many Corvettes they sell. I went the following week to look a a used one. It’s nice to see they know so much about the cars, as this is not the typical experience I have seen in the past. I started seriously looking in October and Matt was the one to help me with everything from trading in my old one to financing ect. I wish I lived closer to have your team take care of the maintenance. Just good to know I can just call and talk to someone who knows what they are doing. I’ve been looking for a used C5 corvette since the spring. I’ve come across many with dry rotted tires, some things not working and other small issues. Van Bortel has an incredible selection that are all meticulously cared for and ready for the road. It was worth the 5 hour round trip. You aren’t buying a car that sat in a dealer lot in the elements. You are buying a car from a climate controlled massive showroom. You may find some for slightly cheaper, but they aren’t in the condition and often aren’t serviced before they hit the lot like Van Bortel. The buying process was stellar. Matt helped me and it was as smooth a transaction as I could have asked for. I came up, found the car I was looking for, and put a deposit. I faxed him my insurance info and when I would be back to pick it up. I came as scheduled and it was ready to go, a 5 minute transaction. The last thing I want on a day when I have a 5 hour round trip and already know which car I’m getting is to have to wait for dealer paperwork or any other strife. If I’m in the market for another Vette which won’t be for a while, this would be my first stop!
I made the drive to Van Bortel for their annual Corvette cruise-in with my C5 coupe. After the show, my son and I headed to the showroom and were amazed with the selection, old to new. We fell in love with a beautiful 2008 Crystal Red coupe. Matt and everyone we dealt with there were unbelievably helpful, fair and so great to deal with. They made the whole deal almost effortless and such a wonderful experience. My son was so impressed with how you treated him too. Drove two hours to look at the Corvettes they had in stock, especially a 2010 Grand Sport convertible and I could not of been more pleased. The variety of the cars was fantastic as well as the condition. I was SUPER happy with the 2010 Grand Sport after driving it and bought it on the spot. Matt was a super guy to deal with!!!!

Kept me informed

The Corvette Team, specifically my salesperson Matt was outstanding to work with. We came to Van Bortel to compare different color combinations. Being from Syracuse I was a little hesitant in purchasing from a dealer in Rochester rather then Syracuse. On our visit Matt was very accommodating to our needs moving several cars into better lighting and even allowing us a test drive. We left with several decisions to make, and in the following weeks we placed an order via email and over the phone, something I never thought I would ever do. Outstanding experience beginning from my initial request via email with Matt, and he promptly answered all questions with direct answers. Many times I had requested information from other dealerships, only to get a generic email in return. Not from Matt. Matt went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable with my decision… he gave me suggestions and his advice, but was in no way pushy. I recently purchased a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport Convertible. I was very pleased with the no pressure attitude of the sales staff. Jon and Matt were very helpful with the whole process answering any questions I might have. I happened to go to Van Bortel on a Sunday to see where they were located and found that they were closed. Jon happened to drive up at that time to drop off a Corvette and opened the dealership for me and my girlfriend so we can look around and answered our questions. Low stress experience
I recently purchased a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport. I had been looking for a C6 convertible Grand Sport with an automatic transmission and Van Bortel had the largest selection. Previously to this we have purchased three Subaru’s and one Ford. My experience buying the Corvette was an easy low pressure, low stress experience. The price for my trade was what I figured the car was worth and there is none of the back and forth game playing I have had to deal with at other dealerships. When it came time to pick my car up, it was inside and had been completely detailed. I purchased the car from Matt [Fagenbaum] and he followed up to make sure I was happy with my car. All in all another pleasant deal with the Van Bortel team.
I purchased a 2009 Corvette and it was a very big decision for me. The sales staff was very patient and gave me every opportunity to make a decision without any pressure tactics. I drove the car several times, and even took the car home overnight. The whole process was very easy and enjoyable, which what buying a car should be. Everyone involved was very professional and courteous. I’ve not had any service performed yet, but I have no doubt that they will be just as professional and customer focused as the sales team was.

I have been looking at Corvettes for a long time, and spent many days at Van Bortel taking test drives of different models and colors. I finally found what I was looking for in a 2002 C5 Convertible that was loaded with performance upgrades. You guys are the best at what you do, and that is making the customer feel at home and comfortable with the whole experience from test driving numerous cars to making the final purchase. This dealer is a top notch customer service oriented dealer. My on-line buying experience with them was the easiest car purchase I have ever experienced. Corvette Specialist, Nate Chandler, is knowledgeable and as pleasant as you could ask. A follow up call from owner Kitty Van Bortel was a super personal touch. Bought the car sight unseen and saw it for the first time when they unloaded it from their custom trailer at my front door. Matt Fagenbaum delivered the car and handled the paperwork like a pro. My only regret is that I live so far away and cannot maintain a continuing service and parts relationship with them for this car. Comfortable in our purchase
We purchased a new 2013 Grand Sport Corvette. Nate was very informative and understanding of needs and went out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable in our purchase. As we bought this in the winter, we really appreciated the free delivery of the car in your covered trailer. The experience was very good.
I called VB Chevy around December 2013 telling them I had a C5 Z06 and I was looking to upgrade to a C6 Z06. I went over what I was looking for, what colors I wanted, budget, etc. A few days later they called me and had a car they thought I’d be interested in, and wanted to get a look at my trade. Since it was wintertime they drove out to my place (it was literally like 0°F that day, and 75 miles from their place) to look at my car. We were able to strike a deal and I bought the car site unseen. I was a little scared, but they literally sent me about 100 high res photos of the car. I drove out to the dealer to pay for it, and they had my new car tucked away in the shop under a cover and it was everything they’d said it’d be. Later on that year I had some issues with the active handling acting up. They took a look at it once, and thought it was fixed, but it came back up again. The second time they took it back again, and were able to determine what it needed…resolving the problem. (knock on wood). Both times, I was provided with a loaner car and they fixed the car for free even though it was beyond the NYS used car warranty time limit (but under the mileage). I was initially concerned I dropped $40000+ on a used car with lingering electrical issues, but they made it right for free. I’ll also note I was looking for a car with 30,000 miles or less, and they found me one with 18,000 miles on it, and gave me good money for my trade (which needed tires & brakes).
Just picked up my first Corvette today from these guys and it was an unbelievable experience. Very professional and they treated me as if we have been friends for 20 years. THANKS VAN BORTEL!!!!!!

Van Bortel knows Corvettes
We had our 500 mile oil change and service on the 2019 Corvette Z06. It was very apparent that Van Bortel knows Corvette’s and has properly trained mechanics for Corvette’s. The mechanic went above the normal experience and showed us under the car and explained the Corvette features. While we were at the dealership we also enjoyed speaking with the dedicated Corvette sales staff.
Professional and knowledgeable
I’ve never dealt with a more professional and knowledgeable auto dealership. This was my second Corvette purchase at Van Bortels, and I was completely pleased with the entire experience. I was offered an excellent price for my trade-in, kept me informed of when delivery would take place, and couldn’t have made the purchase any easier. Upon delivery, Steve was very careful unloading from the enclosed trailer, and spent a great deal of time explaining all the features of the new car. I LOVE THESE GUYS!!
Treated first class with respect and understanding the moment you enter the showroom. It is all about meeting your needs, I would not consider purchasing a vehicle anyplace else. Van Bortel is a 40 minute drive from my home, I have at least 6 dealers that are 5 minute drives from my home in Greece. The drive is a pleasure knowing how the team at Van Bortel will treat me. First rate dealership
I felt I was treated with exceptional professionalism. My salesperson answered all my questions and the manager was equally as helpful. I love my new corvette and highly recommend others to go and get theirs at this first rate dealership.
The dealership has kept pace with the times. Most people want to trade a car and it does no good for a dealership to state that they must see the vehicle before providing a trade in price. Van Bortel provided a solid price for my trade based on some cellphone photos. I really question if I would have driven 250 miles without having a solid price. In fact they took a potential deal away from another well know Corvette dealership by their willingness to deal via e/mail and text. When we arrived at the dealership there was no haggling just a completion of the necessary paperwork.
They even took a personal check.

Car was immaculate
First of all, the selection at Van Bortel Chevrolet was amazing. I visited 7 other dealerships in the area and none of them had more than 3, if any, of the car I was looking for. Van Bortel had a sea of them. Second, I was undecided on which model, The Grand Sport or the Z06, that I wanted, or, with the standard seats vs. the competition seats. I also knew that I wanted one with a manual transmission. I really needed to test drive these variants to be able to make a decision. Steve Kosko, the salesperson that helped me, was able to make it happen. Based on the test drives, I was able to make my decision. But wait! There’s more! Even with the great selection of cars at Van Bortel, They did not have the exact car I wanted so we had to order one from GM. Steve kept me up to date on the progress of the build every step of the way. Upon delivery, the car was immaculate, as you would expect, but not always what you get from some dealerships. Steve was very careful to not put any fingerprints on the car while he was showing me the features. He was also very knowledgeable about the car and was able to answer all of my questions. As of this writing, I have had the car for 4 days and love it!

I couldn’t be happier with the whole process. I was looking at a used 2015 z06 to upgrade from my 2006 z06. I spoke with Matt Fagenbaum and he helped me get into a 2019 z06 convertible. I got more than excellent value on my trade in and the whole process went smoothly. Matt even delivered my corvette right to my house to complete the sale due to inclement weather. Matt did an excellent job helping with my Corvette buying experience. I was able to drive several cars before making my choice. They were helpful and knowledgeable about the cars they were selling. It was fun looking at all of the Corvettes that were an display. When I took delivery Matt answered all of my questions and showed me the features of the car. We have been married 33 years and have purchased many vehicles; this was our first Corvette purchase. Very smooth and easy experience
This is my second corvette I have purchased at Van Bortel’s and have nothing but positive things to say about my experience there, Dealing with Matt at your corvette location was very smooth and easy experience, Matt was very patient with me and answered all my questions. Having all your corvettes at your indoor showroom is by far the best I ever seen !
I brought my Corvette in for an oil change and inspection. Because I am about to take it on a trip, I asked John to look things over to make sure it was in good shape. While most everything was fine, there was a tie rod end that was questionable. Because I was welcome to watch John work, he was able to show me the part right on the car. He was right, it needed to be replaced. He had one in stock and was able to do the job right then, which saved me a trip back on a different day. The job was done neatly, in no time flat and then he did a wheel alignment. He asked me what kind of driving I intended to do and then dialed in the perfect setup to meet my needs. We tested the car together and it handled really nicely! The whole experience was quick, professional and, yeah, fun. It was nice to meet John. He’s a terrific addition to Van Bortel’s great Corvette team.
Your team is the best
Your personnel go out of their way to please your customers. I did not expect that you would wash my car after service, but you did and i appreciate it for as you know, i recently had back surgery which limits my ability to things of that sort. John always tells the customer of problems and will not try to sell parts or service that the vehicle does not need. your team is the best.
I recently moved back to upstate New York from Las Vegas. 3 people stand out: Matt Nate and Jon. These three gentleman helped me get my Corvette from west to east. they went above and beyond make sure that they were there when my Corvette arrived. Once it got here they took the car in the shop, and went through the 27 Pt. Check up, 4 wheel alignment, and oil change. thus far the service has been so good that I drove my other car 20 miles out of the way just get the oil changed. in summary, Van Bortel has definitely earned my business.
Jon was very helpful all paperwork was ready and h the car was ready all cleaned and gassed up. He did an excellent job one of the main reason for choosing Van Bortel Chevrolet is the excellent sales and service I received from leasing 2 vehicles from your ford dealership in Rochester your salesman Paul Bowers is tops he should be commended for the job.
This is the kind of service that I’m willing to drive to get
This was a follow-up visit. Initial visit was to correct a shifter problem on my 2014 Vette, which John quickly fixed. I pointed out a flaw on the 3LT door panel, and a new one was ordered. This visit was to get that installed, and also to have John do a 4 wheel alignment which he had recommended previously. I like that I get to deal directly with the tech. doing the work. John explains things well, and wants to be sure I am completely satisfied before he moves on to his next job. This includes a ride along test drive to test out his work. This is the kind of service that I’m willing to drive the 40 miles to get.
I met John for the first time and he seems to know what he is talking about when it comes to Corvettes and servicing them. Also, i appreciate being able to look under the vehicle when the service is taking place.
